Day1

Theory + dive 1 (reef ecology)

Reef-as-system, food web, common Indo-Pacific species. Dive 1: targeted observation, write 5 species on your slate.
Day2

Dive 2 + species lab + cert

Dive 2: behavioural observation (cleaner fish at stations, parrotfish grazing). Afternoon: post-dive species ID lab with photos. Cert end of day.

Prerequisite?

SSI Open Water. Age 10+. No biology background needed, it's all built in.

Is the marine biologist guide always available?

On scheduled course dates, yes. We schedule Marine Ecology runs around our naturalist's availability, typically every 2 weeks. Ask for the next available date.

Can I add a species specialty?

Yes, 8 species-specific ecology kits available as bundle add-ons (Coral ID, Fish ID, Sharks, Turtles, Manta, Nudibranchs, Marine Invertebrates, Dolphins). Each adds 1 dedicated dive on that species.

Path to SSI Marine Guide rating?

This Marine Ecology specialty + 3 ecology specialties + Divemaster cert = SSI Marine Guide. The most ISO-respected naturalist credential in scuba.

Best season for ecology dives in Goa?

Oct–March, peak visibility + reef activity. Outside that window, ecology is harder to observe.
