Goa's best-known wreck, and India's only beginner-friendly large wreck dive.
Suzy's Wreck (officially the SS Rita) is a British cargo steamer roughly 130 m long, built in the UK in the 1930s and carrying railroad tracks when she sank in a storm off Grande Island, Goa. The hull lies in three identifiable sections in a sandy cove on the west side of the island.
The dive is shallow (5–12 m max), which makes it one of the few large wrecks in the world that Discover Scuba and Open Water students can visit. Marine life on the hull is dense: molluscs, soft corals, blennies, nudibranchs, lobsters and tiger cowries, with barracuda, batfish, angelfish and snappers cruising above. Visibility 6–15 m typical.
No advanced cert needed; any qualified diver, and even DSD participants, can run this dive. Goa dive shops operate it from October to May; monsoon (June–September) shuts the site. Pair with Davy Jones Locker (the stern section 600 m away) for a full wreck day.
