Take the next step after Open Water with the PADI Adventure Diver certification at Kovalam, sampling three adventure dives in the warm Arabian Sea. Guided by an instructor over the Kovalam reef, you try disciplines such as deep, navigation or peak-performance buoyancy diving to find what you enjoy most. The rating sits between Open Water and Advanced Open Water and counts toward the latter.
PADI Adventure Diver is awarded after any three adventure dives. Add two more, including the deep and navigation dives, and you complete the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification, so the dives carry straight over.
Adventure dives run on the reef and nearby sites off Kovalam in the Arabian Sea, where reef fish, the occasional turtle, barracuda, octopus, lionfish, moray eels and stingrays are seen. The calm post-monsoon season, roughly October to March, and warm 27-30°C water suit skill-building dives.
