The PADI AWARE and Fish Identification specialties count toward the Master Scuba Diver rating and connect to the wider AWARE conservation movement. The course can be taken with dives or, for the AWARE knowledge component, without entering the water.
Koh Haa and Koh Bida have rich, accessible reefs with blacktip reef sharks, turtles, snapper, barracuda and colourful soft corals, which makes them good living classrooms for fish identification and conservation work. The November-to-April season gives the clearest water for observation.
