Course overview

The PADI Deep Diver specialty on the Perhentian Islands extends your range to 40 metres and opens up the deeper dives the area is known for, including the Secret Wreck near 38 metres and the Pinnacle (Tokong Laut). Over four dives you learn deep-dive planning, gas management and how to recognise and manage narcosis.

What you’ll learn

• Plan deep dives and manage no-decompression limits
• Monitor gas supply and plan turn pressures for depth
• Recognise and respond to nitrogen narcosis
• Manage buoyancy and ascent rates at depth
• Handle equipment and safety considerations for deep diving

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
• Comfortable with buoyancy and depth from prior dives
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and building depth

   Deep-dive planning theory followed by two dives extending your depth on a deeper local site.
2. Day2
   Depth and certification

   Two further dives toward 40 metres, including narcosis and gas-management tasks, then certification.
