PADI Deep Diver is a recreational specialty that certifies you to a maximum of 40 metres and counts toward the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating. Enriched Air (Nitrox) is a useful companion specialty for extending bottom time at depth.
Deep training uses the boat-accessed deeper waters off Malvan beyond the sheltered bay. In the post-monsoon October-to-May season the Konkan coast stays calm and clear, which makes controlled descents and ascents straightforward. The bay itself is shallow, so deep dives are run on offshore sites.
