Course overview

Become a dive professional with the PADI Divemaster course on Bangaram Island, leading and supervising dives on the coral reefs of a remote tropical-atoll resort in Lakshadweep. Working in calm, clear 27-30C water, you build the stamina, dive-theory knowledge and leadership skills to guide certified divers and assist instructors. This scuba diving dive course finishes with the PADI Divemaster rating, the first rung of the professional ladder.

What you’ll learn

• Plan, organise and lead guided dives for certified divers
• Demonstrate all 24 dive skills to demonstration quality
• Assist a PADI Instructor with students in training
• Conduct dive briefings, mapping and site management
• Apply dive theory in physics, physiology, equipment and decompression planning
• Handle in-water problems and lead emergency procedures

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
• PADI Rescue Diver certification
• Emergency First Response (primary and secondary care) within 24 months
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation and assessment

   Dive-leadership overview, swim and stamina assessments and a review of your goals for the internship.
2. Day2
   Dive theory

   Work through physics, physiology, equipment, RDP and the Divemaster knowledge exams.
3. Day3
   Demonstration skills

   Refine the 24 core skills to demonstration quality in the lagoon shallows.
4. Day4
   Practical workshops

   Map a Bangaram reef, run search-and-recovery and deep-dive scenarios.
5. Day5
   Guiding internship

   Lead certified divers and assist instructors with students on the house reefs.
6. Day6
   Final assessment

   Complete leadership evaluations and earn your PADI Divemaster rating.
