Course overview

Become a dive professional with the PADI Divemaster course in Malta and Gozo, the first leadership rating that lets you guide certified divers and assist on courses. The range of sites here, from shallow Cirkewwa reefs to deeper wrecks like the Um El Faroud and the patrol boats off Comino, gives you varied conditions to build real supervisory experience. You finish able to lead dives, map sites and support instructors worldwide.

What you’ll learn

• Supervise and guide certified divers in open water
• Assist a PADI Instructor with students in confined and open water
• Conduct dive briefings, site maps and dive-management exercises
• Demonstrate all 24 confined-water skills to professional standard
• Lead a mapping project and a search-and-recovery scenario
• Sharpen rescue and problem-management skills as a divemaster candidate

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
• PADI Rescue Diver certification
• Emergency First Response (primary and secondary care) within 24 months
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & water skills

   Dive-theory study, exams and the stamina and rescue water-skills assessments.
2. Day2
   Skills demonstration

   Polish all 24 confined-water skills to demonstration quality for teaching real students.
3. Day3
   Mapping & dive management

   Complete the dive-site mapping project and practical dive-management exercises at a local reef.
4. Day4
   Guiding practice

   Lead certified divers on guided dives at Cirkewwa or Gozo shore sites under supervision.
5. Day5
   Course internship

   Assist an instructor with real students in confined and open water across the islands.
