PADI Emergency First Response follows internationally recognised CPR and first-aid guidelines and satisfies the emergency-care prerequisite for the PADI Rescue Diver and Divemaster courses. The certification is usually valid for two years before a refresher is recommended.
Emergency First Response is taught entirely on land at the dive centre in Hikkaduwa, so there is no in-water element. It pairs naturally with reef and rescue training during the calm November-to-April south-coast season.
