Course overview

The PADI Emergency First Response course in Mauritius gives you the life-support skills every diver should carry. This non-diving classroom programme pairs easily with diving in Flic-en-Flac and teaches primary and secondary care to internationally recognised standards, so you can respond to medical emergencies on land or at the dive site. It also satisfies the first-aid prerequisite for the PADI Rescue Diver and Divemaster courses.

What you’ll learn

• Perform CPR and rescue breathing on an adult
• Manage a non-breathing or unresponsive casualty
• Control serious bleeding and manage shock
• Use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
• Carry out secondary care: illness and injury assessment, splinting and bandaging
• Recognise and respond to dive-related emergencies

Prerequisites

• No prior experience or certification required
• Open to non-divers and divers alike
• No minimum diving age (suitable for accompanying family members)
• No swimming or medical clearance required for the classroom course
