Course overview

Make the move from leading dives to teaching them with the PADI Instructor Development Course in Djibouti, on the Gulf of Tadjoura where the Red Sea opens toward the Indian Ocean. The region's calm, reef-fringed bays and quiet sites give instructor candidates a controlled, unhurried place to rehearse teaching presentations and learn the PADI standards before sitting the Instructor Examination. You finish ready to certify your own divers and join the PADI professional community.

The PADI Instructor / IDC pathway

The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards and prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which is conducted independently by a PADI Examiner. Once you pass the IE you become a teaching member of PADI with a renewable instructor certification, access to professional insurance and the global PADI jobs network.

Where you'll dive in Djibouti

Teaching workshops use the sheltered reef bays of the Gulf of Tadjoura. Calm-to-moderate conditions and 24-30°C water during the October-to-February peak give a low-stress setting to practise confined- and open-water teaching. The independent Instructor Examination is run separately by a PADI Examiner at a designated IE location.
