Course overview

Move from leading dives to teaching them with the PADI Instructor Development Course on Grand Cayman, the route to a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor rating. The island's calm, gin-clear Caribbean water, the shallow training grounds off Seven Mile Beach and a short boat ride to West Wall sites give instructor candidates a forgiving, high-visibility setting to rehearse teaching presentations and master standards before the Instructor Examination. You finish ready to certify divers of your own and join the worldwide community of PADI professionals.

The PADI Instructor / IDC pathway

The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards, then prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which is conducted independently by a PADI Examiner. Where you'll dive in Grand Cayman

Teaching workshops use the sheltered, shallow water off Grand Cayman's western shoreline near George Town, with open-water circuits run on the clear West Wall reefs where visibility regularly exceeds 30 metres. The calm, warm 25-29C season runs roughly April to November.
