Step up from guiding to teaching with the PADI Instructor Development Course in Komodo, one of Indonesia's most demanding current-diving classrooms. You rehearse teaching presentations in calmer bays, then sharpen your judgement on the high-flow seamounts of the Komodo National Park. The IDC ends with you ready to sit the Instructor Examination and certify divers of your own. Learning to teach where reading tides and currents is routine builds the situational awareness a good instructor needs.
The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards, then prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which is run independently by a PADI Examiner. Passing the IE makes you a teaching member of PADI with a renewable instructor certification, access to professional insurance and the worldwide PADI jobs network.
Teaching practice starts in calmer bays around Labuan Bajo and moves on to the Komodo National Park sites, where you learn to brief and supervise around real tidal currents from April to November. The independent Instructor Examination is run separately by a PADI Examiner at a designated IE location.
