Course overview

Move from leading dives to teaching them with the PADI Instructor Development Course on Maafushi, a low-cost local island in the Maldives' South Malé Atoll. With warm 27-30°C water year-round and a calm house reef beside the island, instructor candidates get a forgiving, easily reached classroom to rehearse teaching presentations and learn PADI standards before the Instructor Examination. You finish ready to certify divers of your own and join the PADI professional community.

The PADI Instructor / IDC pathway

The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards, then prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which is run independently by a PADI Examiner. On passing the IE you become a teaching member of PADI with a renewable instructor rating, access to professional insurance and the worldwide PADI jobs network.

Where you'll dive in Maafushi

Teaching workshops use the sheltered island house reef for confined-water practice and nearby South Malé Atoll sites such as Maafushi Corner and Kandooma Thila for open-water teaching. Calm to moderate conditions and 27-30°C water make a steady environment to rehearse before certifying real students. The Maldives dives well year-round, with the calmest seas from November to April.
