The PADI Instructor Development Course in Rasdhoo Atoll moves you from leading dives to teaching them. This small Maldivian island sits among shark-rich channels and holds reliable visibility above 25 metres. You rehearse teaching presentations in the calm shallows near the harbour, then use the surrounding thila and channel sites as working classrooms. You finish ready to sit the independent Instructor Examination and certify divers of your own.
The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards, then prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which is conducted independently by a PADI Examiner. Passing the IE makes you a teaching member of PADI with a renewable instructor rating, access to professional insurance and the global PADI jobs network.
Teaching workshops start in the protected shallows beside the island, then move to forgiving reef sites like Veligandu East and Three Palm. The channel and corner drifts around the atoll let candidates practise managing students in the moderate currents that define real Rasdhoo diving, best from November to April. The Instructor Examination is conducted separately by a PADI Examiner at a designated location.
