Move from leading dives to teaching them with the PADI Instructor Development Course on Tioman, an island that sits inside a UNESCO-recognised marine park off Malaysia's east coast. The warm, calm water around Salang Bay and the easy boulder reefs near Renggis Island give instructor candidates a forgiving place to rehearse confined- and open-water teaching presentations before sitting the independent Instructor Examination. You finish ready to certify divers of your own and join the worldwide community of PADI professionals.
The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards, then prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which is run independently by a PADI Examiner. Once you pass the IE you become a teaching member of PADI with a renewable instructor certification, access to professional insurance and the worldwide PADI jobs network.
Teaching workshops use Tioman's sheltered northern bays around Salang and the shallow, boulder-strewn reef off Renggis Island. Calm conditions through the March-to-October peak season make a low-stress classroom for confined- and open-water teaching. The independent Instructor Examination is held separately by a PADI Examiner at a designated IE location.
