Move from leading dives to teaching them with the PADI Instructor Development Course in Trincomalee, on Sri Lanka's sheltered east coast. The calm, warm bays around Nilaveli and the reefs of Pigeon Island Marine Park give instructor candidates an organised, low-pressure setting to rehearse teaching presentations before the Instructor Examination. You finish certified to train and certify divers of your own as a member of the global PADI professional community.
The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards, then prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which a PADI Examiner conducts independently. Passing the IE makes you a teaching member of PADI with a renewable instructor rating, access to professional insurance and the worldwide PADI jobs network.
Teaching workshops use the calm, shallow bays around Nilaveli and the reefs of Pigeon Island Marine Park. During the calm May-to-September window, with April and October still diveable on either side, the settled water keeps stress low while you rehearse confined- and open-water teaching. The Instructor Examination itself is run separately by a PADI Examiner at a designated location.
