Course overview

Sharpen your sense of direction underwater with the PADI Underwater Navigator specialty at Kovalam, practising precise navigation on the warm Kovalam reef in the Arabian Sea. You learn to use a compass accurately, follow natural references and estimate distance, finishing able to lead a dive back to your start point with confidence. You earn the PADI Underwater Navigator certification.

What you’ll learn

• Use a compass to navigate accurately underwater
• Follow and recognise natural navigation references
• Estimate distance using kick cycles and time
• Navigate patterns such as squares and reciprocal courses
• Lead a dive and relocate the entry or exit point

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (junior) or 15
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or higher
• Comfort with basic open-water skills
• Diver medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if any condition applies)
