The PADI Underwater Navigation specialty sharpens your ability to find your way around a dive site using natural references and a compass, a genuinely useful skill on Trincomalee's reefs and rocky sites. Over three dives off Nilaveli and Pigeon Island you learn to navigate accurately, judge distance and relocate points of interest with confidence.
PADI Underwater Navigation counts toward the Advanced Open Water course and the Master Scuba Diver rating, and it develops a core skill used in many other specialties.
Navigation dives use the reef contours and sandy patches around Nilaveli Reef and Pigeon Island Marine Park. The clear water during the calm May-to-September window, with April and October still diveable on either side makes natural-reference navigation straightforward to learn.
