Course overview

See the reef after dark with the PADI Night Diver specialty in Moalboal, Cebu, where the Panagsama Beach house reef fills at night with hunting lionfish, octopus and crustaceans. Over three dives this scuba diving course covers light handling, night navigation and communication while nocturnal marine life emerges on a site you can enter straight from shore. You finish certified as a PADI Night Diver.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and organise night dives and entries/exits in the dark
• Use primary and backup dive lights and light-signalling techniques
• Navigate and maintain buddy contact at night
• Identify nocturnal marine life and behaviour
• Control buoyancy and orientation with limited visual references
• Manage disorientation and emergency procedures after dark

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior) / 15
• PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Comfortable basic navigation and buoyancy
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Light & navigation

   Knowledge review followed by your first night dive on the Panagsama house reef, focusing on light use and communication.
2. Day2
   Night navigation & marine life

   Two further night dives practising navigation and observing octopus, lionfish and other nocturnal creatures on the reef.
