See a whole new reef after dark with the PADI Night Diver specialty at Sipadan, descending onto the macro reefs off Mabul as nocturnal life takes over. You learn light handling, navigation and communication while spotting hunting moray eels, sleeping turtles, flamboyant cuttlefish and the eyeshine of shrimp and crabs. Night diving shows the muck-diving side of this region in a completely different light.
PADI Night Diver includes three night dives, can count as an Adventure Dive toward Advanced Open Water, and is a specialty toward Master Scuba Diver.
Night dives use the sheltered, shallow house reef off Mabul, a well-known muck-diving site whose octopus, cuttlefish, crustaceans and hunting eels come alive after dark. Calm April-to-October conditions make for relaxed low-light diving.
