The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world's most recognised entry-level certification, and Baa Atoll in the Maldives is a fine place to earn it. Over confined-water sessions and four open-water training dives on the reefs around Dharavandhoo, you become an independent certified diver qualified to dive to 18 metres anywhere in the world.
PADI Open Water Diver is a full, lifetime certification recognised worldwide. It qualifies you to dive to 18 metres with a buddy and is the prerequisite for Advanced Open Water and continuing education.
Training dives use the sheltered, gently sloping house reefs around Dharavandhoo in Baa Atoll, where warm 27-30°C water, good visibility and regular reef-fish and turtle sightings suit new divers well.
