Earn your PADI Open Water Diver certification in Cairns and become a globally recognised diver on the Great Barrier Reef. The course combines knowledge development, pool training and four open-water training dives, typically completed on a liveaboard trip to outer reefs such as Flynn, Milln and Thetford. You finish certified to dive to 18 metres anywhere in the world, with the reef's turtles, reef sharks and coral gardens as your classroom.
The PADI Open Water Diver is the world's most recognised entry-level scuba certification, with no expiry. It qualifies you to dive to 18 metres with a buddy and is the prerequisite for the Advanced Open Water course.
Open Water training combines heated Cairns pools with four ocean dives on a liveaboard or day trip to outer Great Barrier Reef sites such as Flynn, Milln and Thetford Reefs, where calm-to-moderate conditions and warm water in the June-to-November high season suit new divers.
