Course overview

The PADI Open Water Diver course in Hurghada is the world's most popular scuba certification, and Hurghada is an ideal place to earn it, with warm, clear Red Sea water and easy reefs that make learning a pleasure. Through eLearning theory, confined-water skill sessions and four open-water dives, you gain everything needed to dive independently with a buddy to 18 metres. You finish as a fully certified diver, free to dive anywhere in the world.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, use and maintain scuba equipment
• Master essential skills including mask clearing and regulator recovery
• Control buoyancy and conserve air
• Plan dives and use dive tables or a computer
• Dive safely to 18 metres with a buddy
• Handle common problems and emergencies underwater

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior) or 15
• No prior certification required
• Able to swim and be comfortable in the water
• Diver medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if a condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & confined water

   Complete the eLearning knowledge reviews and practise core skills across confined-water sessions in calm shallows.
2. Day2
   Open-water dives 1 & 2

   Apply your skills on the first two open-water dives on sheltered Red Sea reefs from the boat.
3. Day3
   Open-water dives 3 & 4 & certification

   Complete the final two open-water dives, demonstrate your skills and qualify as an Open Water Diver.
