Open-water training dives take place over the Kovalam reef in the Arabian Sea, home to reef fish, the occasional turtle, barracuda, octopus, lionfish, moray eels and stingrays. The calm post-monsoon season, roughly October to March, and warm 27-30°C water give settled, beginner-friendly conditions.
