Become a fully certified diver with the PADI Open Water Diver course in Tarkarli-Malvan. Over confined-water sessions and four open-water dives to 18 metres in the calm, sheltered bay beside Sindhudurg Fort, you earn a globally recognised licence to dive independently with a buddy anywhere in the world, all on a domestic trip with no passport needed.
PADI Open Water Diver is the world's most popular scuba certification, qualifying you to dive to 18 metres independently with a buddy anywhere. The knowledge sections can be completed online via PADI eLearning before you arrive to shorten in-water time.
Training uses the sheltered, shallow bay off Tarkarli and Malvan, beside Sindhudurg Fort, and the boat-accessed reefs off Malvan. The water is calm, clear and warm at 26-29C, and in the post-monsoon October-to-May season the Konkan coast stays calm and clear, which makes a forgiving classroom. Expect reef fish, octopus, moray eels and the occasional stingray.
