Course overview

Become a more confident, capable diver with the PADI Rescue Diver course in Ambon on the Banda Sea, learning to prevent and manage in-water problems. Across self-rescue and emergency scenarios staged in calm Ambon Bay you build the judgement to handle stressed, tired or unresponsive divers. These are skills that matter in the region's occasional moderate currents.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and manage diver stress before it becomes an emergency
• Perform self-rescue and tired-diver techniques
• Search for, surface and tow an unresponsive diver
• Give in-water rescue breaths and exit a casualty from the water
• Plan and coordinate an emergency response as a team
• Use oxygen and first aid in a dive emergency

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver under 15)
• PADI Adventure Diver (or Advanced Open Water) with the underwater navigation dive completed
• Emergency First Response primary and secondary care within the past 24 months
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & EFR

   Complete knowledge development and, if needed, the Emergency First Response first-aid and CPR training.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Practise the ten core rescue exercises in the sheltered shallows of Ambon Bay.
3. Day3
   Scenarios & certification

   Run full open-water rescue scenarios, then debrief and certify as a PADI Rescue Diver.
