Course overview

Develop into a confident, problem-solving diver with the PADI Rescue Diver course on Bangaram Island, learning to prevent and manage emergencies in the calm, clear lagoon and reefs of remote Lakshadweep. The course sharpens your awareness of yourself, your buddies and your surroundings. This scuba diving dive course earns you the PADI Rescue Diver certification, a step toward Divemaster.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and prevent dive emergencies before they escalate
• Manage tired, panicked and unresponsive divers at the surface
• Perform in-water rescue tows and equipment removal
• Search for and surface a missing or unresponsive diver
• Administer rescue breaths and coordinate an emergency response
• Plan and run a diver-emergency management scenario

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver) or 15 for Rescue Diver
• PADI Adventure Diver or higher (with Underwater Navigation completed)
• Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care within 24 months
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and self-rescue

   Complete the knowledge development and exam, then practise self-rescue and stress-recognition skills.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Work through the ten rescue exercises in the lagoon shallows and on a sheltered reef.
3. Day3
   Rescue scenarios

   Combine your skills in two realistic open-water scenarios on Bangaram's reefs and earn certification.
