Course overview

Become a more capable, confident diver with the PADI Rescue Diver course on Gili Trawangan, learning to prevent and manage dive emergencies. Across rescue scenarios in the island's calm, warm 27-29°C water you practise self-rescue, assisting other divers and handling unresponsive-diver situations on Gili's sheltered reefs.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and prevent dive problems before they escalate
• Perform self-rescue and tired-diver tows
• Assist panicked divers at the surface and underwater
• Search for and surface an unresponsive diver
• Deliver in-water rescue breaths and manage emergencies
• Run an emergency action plan as a team

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver)
• PADI Adventure Diver with Underwater Navigation, or Advanced Open Water (or equivalent)
• Current EFR Primary and Secondary Care (or equivalent) within 24 months
• Diver medical clearance where required

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & rescue skills

   Knowledge development and self-rescue plus tired-diver skills in sheltered water.
2. Day2
   Rescue exercises

   Work through panicked-diver, missing-diver and unresponsive-diver exercises on a calm Gili reef.
3. Day3
   Scenarios & certification

   Combine skills into full rescue scenarios, then certify as a PADI Rescue Diver.
