Course overview

Become a more capable, self-reliant diver with the PADI Rescue Diver course in Port Blair, often called the most rewarding step in recreational training. In the calm, clear waters around Chidiyatapu and the Andaman Sea you learn to anticipate, prevent and manage diving emergencies, including tired-diver tows and unresponsive-diver recoveries. The certification builds the judgement and confidence of a genuinely competent diver.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and prevent common diving problems
• Manage diver stress and respond to panicked divers
• Perform self-rescue and tired-diver tows
• Search for and surface a missing or unresponsive diver
• Administer in-water rescue breathing
• Coordinate an emergency-management plan

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver under 15)
• PADI Adventure Diver or higher (with Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive)
• Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care within 24 months
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Knowledge & self-rescue

   Complete the rescue theory and exam, then practise self-rescue and stress-recognition skills in shallow water.
2. Day2
   Rescue exercises

   Work through the ten rescue skills, from tired-diver tows to surfacing an unresponsive diver, in calm Andaman water.
3. Day3
   Rescue scenarios

   Apply everything in two realistic open-water emergency scenarios at Chidiyatapu and certify.
