Course overview

Add wreck diving to your skill set with the PADI Wreck Diver specialty in Cairns, learning to explore sunken structures safely on Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reef trips. Over two days and several dives you cover wreck surveying, mapping, hazard avoidance and the techniques for responsible penetration, building toward depths of up to 30 metres. It is a popular specialty for divers who enjoy history and adventure.

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water (Deep dive recommended)
• Comfort at depths approaching 30 metres
• Diver medical clearance signed where any health condition applies

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Wreck theory and first dives

   Complete the wreck knowledge development, then make your first wreck dives focusing on surveying, mapping and hazard awareness.
2. Day2
   Mapping and penetration skills

   Run guideline and reel exercises and practise responsible limited penetration to recreational depths of up to 30 metres, then certify.
