Course overview

Earn the PADI Wreck Diver specialty in Djibouti and learn to explore sunken structures safely on the Gulf of Tadjoura, a corridor of busy shipping lanes where the Red Sea meets the Indian Ocean. Across four dives you cover survey, mapping, penetration-line technique and the hazard awareness that keeps wreck diving controlled. You finish certified to dive wrecks responsibly.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute safe wreck dives within recreational limits
• Survey and map a wreck to record its layout
• Use penetration lines and reels to maintain an exit reference
• Recognise and avoid wreck-diving hazards such as sharp metal and silt-out
• Manage specialised equipment and buoyancy around structures

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or higher (Advanced Open Water recommended)
• Comfort with buoyancy control and dive planning
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Survey and mapping

   Cover wreck theory and dive planning, then complete survey and mapping dives on a Gulf of Tadjoura wreck.
2. Day2
   Lines and limited penetration

   Practise reel and line technique with hazard management, completing the remaining wreck dives to certify.
