Earn the PADI Wreck Diver specialty on the Perhentian Islands, which hold one of South East Asia's most accessible wreck collections. You log four dives on local wrecks including the 3,500-tonne Sugar Wreck and the smaller Police Wreck (a cluster of boats at around 18 metres), learning to survey, map and safely explore sunken vessels.
PADI Wreck Diver is a recreational specialty that counts toward the Master Scuba Diver rating. Any penetration is limited to within the light zone using guidelines; full overhead penetration requires further technical training.
The Perhentians have several wrecks within recreational range, including the large Sugar Wreck and the shallower Police Wreck, generally dived in calm, warm water during the March-to-October season; the deeper Secret Wreck sits around 38 metres for more advanced divers.
