Get a structured first introduction to scuba in Coron with the SSI Basic Diver programme, a guided step between a single try-dive and the full Open Water course. Over two days in warm 27-29C water you build confined-water skills and make supervised open-water dives to a maximum of 12 metres, possibly visiting a shallow wreck such as the Lusong Gunboat. It is a good confidence-builder before you commit to certification.
SSI Basic Diver is a supervised entry-level rating that introduces core skills. You can upgrade it to the full SSI Open Water Diver certification by completing the remaining requirements, which makes it a flexible first step.
Basic Diver training uses Coron's calm, shallow sites. Warm 27-29C water and the shallow Lusong Gunboat, between roughly 3 and 10 metres, make a safe environment to build early skills during the November-to-May season.
