Course overview

Get a real taste of scuba with the SSI Basic Diver / Scuba Skills programme in Fiji, a two-day introduction that sits between a single try-dive and full certification. Working on Beqa Lagoon's sheltered soft-coral reefs, you learn the foundational skills and complete supervised open-water dives in warm, clear water. It is a good stepping stone toward the SSI Open Water Diver certification.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, wear and care for scuba equipment
• Breathe and move underwater with control
• Clear the mask and recover the regulator
• Achieve basic neutral buoyancy
• Use hand signals and buddy procedures
• Complete supervised dives on a shallow reef

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• No prior experience or swimming certification required
• Basic comfort in the water
• Complete a brief medical questionnaire

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Skills & first dive

   Learn equipment setup and core skills in confined water, then make your first supervised reef dive in Beqa Lagoon.
2. Day2
   Second dive & review

   Complete a second supervised dive, consolidate skills and receive your SSI Basic Diver record.
