SSI Basic Diver is a scaled-down certification covering the essential skills and a supervised dive. It credits directly toward the full SSI Open Water Diver rating, which extends your depth and lets you dive independently with a buddy.
Training uses the sheltered, shallow bay off Tarkarli and Malvan, beside Sindhudurg Fort. The water is calm, shallow, clear and warm at 26-29C, and in the post-monsoon October-to-May season the Konkan coast stays calm and clear, which gives new divers a relaxed, forgiving introduction to certified diving.
