Course overview

Reach the recreational depth limit with the SSI Deep Diving specialty on Maafushi, diving the deeper channel walls and drop-offs of the Maldives' South Malé Atoll. Across training dives at sites such as Miyaru Kandu, where pelagics patrol the blue, you learn deep-dive planning, gas management and narcosis awareness in warm 27-30°C water. You finish certified to dive safely to 40 metres.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct dives to a maximum of 40 metres
• Manage gas and turn-pressure on deeper dives
• Recognise and manage nitrogen narcosis
• Use computers for multi-level deep dive profiles
• Apply safety-stop and contingency procedures
• Account for light, colour and temperature changes at depth

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent certification
• Comfortable with multi-level dives and good buoyancy
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Academics & first dives

   Complete deep-diving theory via the SSI app, then build depth on atoll drop-offs.
2. Day2
   To 40 metres

   Reach toward 40 metres at sites such as Miyaru Kandu, with gas and narcosis checks, to certify.
