Course overview

The SSI Deep Diving specialty trains you to dive safely to a maximum of 40m, opening up Zanzibar's deeper walls and wrecks. You build depth experience on northern reefs and Matemwe slopes that fall toward 40m, plus the deeper Stone Town navy wreck, all in clear, warm Indian Ocean water.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct dives to a 40-metre maximum
• Identify and respond to nitrogen narcosis
• Manage gas supply, NDLs and conservative safety stops
• Set up and use redundant or contingency gas where required
• Understand pressure effects, colour absorption and thermal change at depth
• Apply structured deep-dive planning

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent
• Good buoyancy and air consumption
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Deep fundamentals

   Digital academics plus initial dives building experience to around 30m on Zanzibar's walls and pinnacles.
2. Day2
   To forty metres

   Further dives progressing toward 40m off Matemwe or a deep wreck, with narcosis and contingency practice, to certify.
