SSI's Try Scuba experience on Neil Island gives first-timers a taste of the underwater world, beginning in shallow water before a supervised dive to about 12 metres over the island's clownfish-rich reefs. No swimming ability is needed to give it a go.
SSI Try Scuba is a digitally supported instructor-led experience (not a certification) that can credit toward the SSI Open Water Diver course if you continue your training.
The dive takes place on Neil's gentle shallow reefs such as Nemo Reef (5-12 m), where anemone clownfish and small reef fish are easy to spot. Calm November-May seas and warm 27-30C water make this a comfortable introduction.
