Never dived before? The SSI Try Scuba experience lets you try scuba in north-male-atoll under the direct supervision of an instructor, a short transfer from Malé. After a quick briefing in calm, shallow water you take your first breaths underwater on a gentle reef to a maximum of 12 metres, with reef fish and maybe a passing turtle.
SSI Try Scuba is an introductory experience rather than a certification. The session can be credited toward the SSI Open Water Diver course when you continue your training.
Your experience takes place in a sheltered lagoon and on a shallow house reef in north-male-atoll, where calm water and easy access make it ideal for a first dive. The diving season peaks from November to April, when visibility is best across the atoll's channels and reefs. Water stays warm at 27-30°C year-round, with moderate currents on the channel sites.
