Cross the line from guide to teacher with the SSI Instructor Training Course in the Andaman Sea off Havelock, one of India's longest-established instructor-training regions. You will refine teaching presentations on calm, coral-rich sites like Nemo Reef, where 28°C water and strong visibility let students focus on technique. It is a demanding path through waters where dugongs, white-tip sharks and reef turtles are part of the everyday backdrop.
SSI is a dive-business-based agency with free digital training materials, performance-based sessions you can repeat until mastered, and SSI digital certification cards recognised worldwide.
The course uses Havelock's wind-sheltered training reefs, which stay accessible even through the monsoon months when the spawning season packs the reef with biomass. Open-water teaching dives stay within recreational depths of 12-18 metres over coral gardens busy with fusiliers, clownfish and the odd passing white-tip shark. Confined skills run in flat shallow water close to shore.
Flights and accommodation aren’t part of the course price, here’s how to book them around your dates.
