Course overview

Step up to teaching with the SSI Instructor Training Course in Muscat, training on Oman's calm reefs at Bandar Khayran and the Daymaniyat Islands. SSI's digital teaching system and the sheltered coastal water give candidates an effective environment to rehearse presentations and master standards before the Instructor Evaluation. You finish ready to certify your own students as an SSI Open Water Instructor.

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• SSI Divemaster / Dive Guide or a qualifying leadership rating
• Certified diver for at least 6 months
• Around 100 logged dives toward the Instructor Evaluation
• Current first aid, CPR and oxygen-provider training
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Teaching foundations

   Orientation to the SSI training system and first classroom teaching presentations.
2. Day2
   Confined-water workshops

   Practise demonstrating and teaching core skills in the calm shallows near Muscat.
3. Day3
   Open-water teaching

   Deliver open-water teaching presentations and skill circuits at Bandar Khayran under evaluation.
4. Day4
   Standards & digital system

   Work through SSI standards, risk management and the digital training platform.
5. Day5
   Theory & skills assessment

   Complete dive-theory exams and skills assessments to instructor standard.
6. Day6
   Evaluation preparation

   Mock assessments and a full briefing for the SSI Instructor Evaluation.
