Step up to teaching with the SSI Open Water Instructor programme in Tarkarli-Malvan, which qualifies you to certify divers across the digital MySSI system. The sheltered, shallow bay beside Sindhudurg Fort on Maharashtra's Konkan coast is a calm, controlled setting to rehearse teaching presentations and learn SSI standards before your Instructor Evaluation. What you’ll learn

• Deliver classroom, pool and open-water teaching presentations the SSI way

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• SSI Dive Guide / Divemaster or a qualifying leadership rating from another recognised agency
• Certified diver for at least 6 months
• Logged dives per SSI standards (at least 60 to train, 75-100 toward instructor)
• Current CPR, first aid and oxygen-provider training
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Teaching foundations

   Orientation to SSI standards and the MySSI system, plus your first classroom teaching presentations.
2. Day2
   Pool workshops

   Practise demonstrating and teaching core skills in the calm shallows of the Tarkarli bay.
3. Day3
   Open-water teaching

   Deliver open-water teaching presentations and skill circuits at boat-accessed sites near Sindhudurg Fort under evaluation.
4. Day4
   Standards & risk management

   Work through SSI standards, risk management and the business of diving.
5. Day5
   Theory & rescue assessment

   Sit dive-theory exams and complete the rescue assessment to ITC standard.
6. Day6
   Evaluation preparation

   Mock evaluations, presentation polishing and a full briefing for the SSI Instructor Evaluation.
