See the reef after sunset with the SSI Night Diving specialty on Maafushi, where the South Malé Atoll changes once the light goes. Diving the calm island house reef, you watch octopus, moray eels and hunting fish emerge while learning light signalling and night navigation in warm 27-30°C water. You finish qualified to plan and enjoy night dives.

The SSI Night Diver pathway

SSI Night Diving is delivered through the SSI free digital platform and counts toward the SSI Specialty and Master Diver ratings. The training dives can usually be completed over one or two evenings.

Night dives run on the sheltered island house reef and nearby South Malé Atoll sites, where calm conditions and 27-30°C water bring out octopus, moray eels and hunting fish after dark, best from November to April.
