The SSI Night Diving specialty opens up Trincomalee's reefs after sunset, when the east-coast sites take on a new character. Across your night dives around Nilaveli and Pigeon Island you learn light technique, signalling and night navigation, meeting nocturnal life such as lobsters, crabs and hunting reef fish.
SSI Night Diving counts toward the SSI Specialty Diver and Master Diver ratings and is delivered through the DiveSSI digital platform, with emphasis on backup lights and night procedures.
Night dives take place on the calm Nilaveli reefs and around Pigeon Island Marine Park, where settled seas during the calm May-to-September window, with April and October still diveable on either side make for easy, relaxed after-dark diving.
