Learn to anticipate, prevent and manage diving emergencies with the SSI Diver Stress & Rescue course in Hikkaduwa. Through calm reef and shallow-water training on Sri Lanka's south coast, you practise recognising diver stress, performing rescues and running accident-management scenarios. You finish certified as an SSI Stress & Rescue diver, a required step toward professional ratings.
SSI Diver Stress & Rescue is a prerequisite for the Divemaster rating and counts toward the SSI Master Diver recognition. Current React Right or equivalent emergency-care training is required, and your certification is recorded in the SSI app.
Training takes place on Hikkaduwa's sheltered house reef and coral gardens. Calm 27-29°C water and easy shore and boat access through the November-to-April season make a safe setting for rescue drills.
