Course overview

Build the confidence to help others underwater with the SSI Diver Stress & Rescue course in Krabi, run on the calm Andaman reefs around Ao Nang. Realistic scenarios teach you to spot building stress, assist struggling divers and manage an emergency in warm 27-30°C water. You finish certified as an SSI Stress & Rescue diver, a solid step toward leadership ratings such as Dive Guide and Divemaster.

What you’ll learn

• Identify the early signs of diver stress before it becomes an emergency
• Perform self-rescue and assist a tired or panicked diver
• Conduct surface and underwater searches for a missing diver
• Surface and tow an unresponsive diver and provide rescue breaths
• Use oxygen and manage an accident scene effectively
• Apply problem-prevention thinking to your own diving

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (junior) or 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent, with Navigation specialty
• SSI React Right (CPR, first aid, oxygen) or equivalent provider rating
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & React Right

   Work through the digital learning and complete React Right first-aid, CPR and oxygen training if required.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Practise self-rescue and diver-assist techniques in shallow water near Ao Nang.
3. Day3
   Open-water scenarios

   Complete full rescue scenarios on the local Andaman reefs, including an unresponsive-diver recovery.
