Course overview

Sharpen your problem-prevention and emergency-response skills with the SSI Stress and Rescue Diver course in Phuket, training across the Andaman Sea's calm reef sites. You learn to spot and manage stress early and to handle real rescue situations, the foundation skills that lead toward the SSI professional ratings. The certification builds real confidence in warm 27-30C water.

What you’ll learn

• Identify and manage diver stress before it escalates
• Perform self-rescue and assist a tired or panicked diver
• Locate, surface and tow an unresponsive diver
• Deliver in-water rescue breaths and safe exits
• Plan and execute an emergency-management response
• Use rescue equipment and oxygen effectively

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior)
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent, including a navigation dive
• Current first aid, CPR and oxygen-provider training (React Right recommended)
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and stress recognition

   Complete the SSI academics and practise recognising and managing diver stress.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Work through self-rescue, tows and unresponsive-diver recovery in calm water.
3. Day3
   Scenarios and certification

   Run open-water rescue scenarios at a local reef and certify as a Stress and Rescue Diver.
