The SSI Scuba Diver certification at Sipadan is a recognised entry-level rating for beginners with limited time, taught on the calm reefs off Mabul Island. You complete the first portions of academics, confined-water skills and open-water dives, earning a certification that lets you dive with an SSI professional to shallow depths. It can later be upgraded to the full SSI Open Water Diver certification.

Training uses the calm, shallow house reef off Mabul Island, a sheltered, turtle-rich site where the gentle April-to-October conditions suit beginners completing their first supervised dives.
