SSI Scuba Diver is a shorter entry-level certification, useful if time is limited, qualifying you to dive to 12 metres under the guidance of an SSI professional. You train in the calm waters off Nilaveli and on the reefs of Pigeon Island Marine Park, completing the first part of the Open Water programme with the option to upgrade later.
SSI Scuba Diver allows diving to 12 metres with an SSI professional and upgrades directly to SSI Open Water Diver once you complete the remaining academics and dives. It is delivered via the DiveSSI app.
Training uses the calm Nilaveli shallows for confined sessions and the Pigeon Island Marine Park reefs for open-water dives. The settled water during the calm May-to-September window, with April and October still diveable on either side makes for easy conditions.
